LIFEBLOOD: The project red ribbon blood letting program

The need for blood is immediate in the Philippines. Every day, more and more Filipinos are in need of life saving blood transfusions and the current blood supply can not keep up with the current demand.

The Philippine human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) community is greatly affected by this problem. Every day, people living with HIV (PLHIV) are needing blood transfusions as a result of the progression of HIV disease or as a result of its treatment. The community has been losing dozens of PLHIV because: 

1. the blood type and/or component are not available in blood banks and hospitals,        

2. the economically challenged PLHIV can’t afford to buy blood from blood banks. 

The Project Red Ribbon launched the Lifeblood: The Project Red Ribbon Blood Letting Program in 2016, a monthly blood letting project, the beneficiary of which is TRR’s indigent PLHIV. By definition, lifeblood literally means, the blood as being necessary for life. It also pertains to the indispensable factor or influence that gives somethings its strength and vitality. 

Lifeblood’s objective is to make the the donated blood available for free to our economically challenged PLHIV to help save their lives while undergoing treatment for HIV. To make this project possible, the Foundation will be partnering with different companies, organizations and institutions nationwide.

Help us help others. Coordinate with your company to conduct a Lifeblood Program in your company. The blood letting program is free. Just set a venue where we can do the Lifeblood Program and provide snacks for our volountees.
